Japanese old fairy tale tells that 2 rabbits in the moon makes
rice cake. Actually this story was originated from Konjaku Monogatarishu from Heian period.

One rabbit sacrificed his life to one old man to survive because he doesn't think there
are nothing to offer like a clever fox or a monkey. The old man later told us he was one of the GOD and he sent a rabbit to the moon for the greatest example forever. What a story! I used to have a Netherlands brown rabbit as a pet
and wonder if he would do the same thing to me. He use to open my bedroom sliding door to get in and he surprised my female guest doing almost high five jumping in his cage when she showed nothing on herself after the shower. This seems more like a real bunny rabbit to me
than a greatest example on the moon.
Easter is christian holiday and rabbits and eggs are
metaphor for spring and prosperity. We Japanese do not celebrate like having a
Easter dinner together but we love sweet things like rabbit and cake.
